“Viele Jahre schon arbeite ich mit Menschen und deren Stimmen und bin immer wieder fasziniert und begeistert von der Vielfalt und Abwechslung, die diese Beschäftigung mit sich bringt. Die Persönlichkeit sowie die einzigartige Stimmfarbe sind die Basis, die ein jeder von uns von Natur aus besitzt. Darauf aufbauend geht es mir bei der Arbeit mit unserem körpereigenen Instrument zu allererst darum, eine gesunde Atem- und Stimmtechnik zu vermitteln, mit Hilfe derer der persönliche Stimmklang entwickelt werden kann um der kreativen Vielfalt, die in jedem von uns steckt, ein Ausdrucksmittel zu verleihen.
Im Erteilen von Einzelunterricht sowie Workshops, aber auch in meinen anderen musikalischen Tätigkeiten im Studio oder auf der Bühne, konnte ich in all den Jahren viel Erfahrung sammeln, die es mir nun ermöglicht, meinen Unterricht auf vielseitige und kreative Art und Weise zu gestalten. Dabei ist es mir ein großes Anliegen, auf die Menschen sowohl musikalisch als auch persönlich einzugehen um mit ihnen gemeinsam herauszufinden, was sie mit ihrer Stimme ausdrücken und vermitteln möchten und wie der Weg dorthin aussehen kann. Ich beziehe dabei immer gerne Aktuelles aus dem Leben der SchülerInnen mit ein in den Unterricht, und zwar indem wir Worte finden für Situationen, Gefühle oder Erlebtes und diese innerhalb einer Gesangsübung oder einer gemeinsamen Improvisation zum Klingen bringen. Ich habe selbst die Erfahrung gemacht, dass das wiederholte Singen von bestimmten Sätzen und Aussagen eine sehr tiefgehende Wirkung haben kann, weswegen dies ein fixer Bestandteil meines Unterrichts geworden ist. Und so kann zum Beispiel ein persönlicher Wunsch, den ein Schüler / eine Schülerin äußert, durch alle Tonarten und Register wandern und sich somit in Körper und Geist manifestieren. Es kann aber auch von diesem Wunsch ausgehend eine gemeinsame Improvisation entstehen, die durch viele Klanglandschaften führt und sich intuitiv erweitert und wächst. Im gemeinsamen Geben und Nehmen von Worten, Tönen, Klängen und Geräuschen, im Aufeinander-Hören und Reagieren, im Singen sowie im aufmerksamen Zuhören darf da sein und herauskommen was im Moment wichtig ist ... und dann, eine Weile später, ist dieser Wunsch vielleicht noch konkreter geworden, und noch bunter als zu Beginn.

I've worked with people and their voices for years and I'm continually fascinated by their endless diversity and variety. Personality and a unique vocal timbre are basic human characteristics: building on that, my work with our organic instrument focuses first on developing the healthy breathing and vocal techniques needed to develop a personal vocal sound; that sound is a means of expressing the creative diversity inside each of us. In all my years teaching, giving workshops, performing, and recording, I've acquired a body of knowledge that allows me to make learning about music a varied, creative experience.

One of my foremost goals is to connect with my students on both a musical and a personal level, to find out together what they want to express and communicate with their voices, and how they can achieve it. I strive to involve current events in the lives of my students in the lessons – to find words and give a voice to situations, feelings, and experiences as part of a vocal exercise or improvisation. My own experience has shown me that repeatedly singing specific phrases and statements can have a profound effect on the singer, which is why I have made this practice an essential part of my teaching. Thus, a student's personal wish can wander through all the keys and registers, finding its way into their body and spirit. Or the wish may form the basis of an improvisation between the student and myself, a journey through different soundscapes that grows and finds its way intuitively. In the mutual giving and taking of words, tones, and sounds, in hearing and reacting to one another, in singing and actively listening, that which is important in the moment can emerge and exist... and after a while, perhaps, the wish may become more concrete, more colorful than before.
